Finally, a future for Hummers

item full image
How can you make your Hummer ecologically correct? Convert it to electric, or hybrid? How about making it really green, even if it means only getting two horsepower?
Love

Fools in Love

item full image
Ever think "how did those two ever end up together?" Maybe it's all just in our genes. So says Helen Fisher in this recent talk, bound to promote some conversation. Takes "What's your type?" to a new level.

Love and Sports

Love and Sports: Former major league ballplayer Doug Glanville's is no dumb ex-jock; in his online NY Times column the Penn grad offers a window into a strange way of life as it was lived by a (seemingly) fairly normal guy. With characteristic charm, this recent post describes how hard it was to pursue love and baseball at the same time.
Health

Come clean

item full image
When my husband got the swine flu, I bought Purell by the gallons, sanitized
every surface of the house, and tossed medicine into his room so I wouldn't
have to get near him. Nevertheless, my daughter got sick. By the time my
son got sick, I was holding him in my lap as I read him books -- having
thrown caution to the wind. (Of course, I never got sick.) This Slate
article talks science about what Purell can do to fight flu in the home and
in public... And -- more interestingly -- what it can't do!
Character

It's okay to lie?

item full image
Telling the truth can be so... inconvenient at times. So what do we do, capitulate to these "squishy" times? Not so fast, argues one parent. It's okay to wait until you're 13 to sign up for Facebook...
Communications

Reach out and touch someone

The fist bump, the high five and the quick slap on the rear end are all part of connecting on the playing fields these days. Do these "touches" help with team performance and bonding??
Guilty Pleasures

Bubble Chocolate

item full image
Bubble chocolate - chocolate with micro-bubbles scattered throughout - has been all the rage in Europe, but will it become popular here in the US? The air bubbles make it so you can eat a bar three times the size of solid chocolate for the same amount of calories! YIPPEE!
