With Memorial Day in our rear view mirror, it seems like to good time to applaud John Ondrasik (Five for Fighting), who in addition to being a tremendous artist (grammy-nominated "Superman," along with the well-known "100 Years"), is a tremendous supporter of the military.

If you're in the military, check out Five For Fighting's website for tour dates - he gives free tickets to military members wanting to attend. But there's no Conan or Carrey doing "Superman," like there is here:

Everyone remembers how tough it was to be a teenager - so what are we to make of a country whose happiest population subgroup is its teenagers? That country is Canada. Those who are observing teenagers in the US at close quarters, are you also finding that sullen teen angst is a thing of the past, or are our neighbors to the north just weird?

Are your kids crazy for Silly Bandz?? If you don't know what I'm talking about, beware because they're coming your way! Some kids are lining their arms from wrist to elbows with these colorful, multi-shaped bands (shaped like animals, princesses, letters, food, etc.), and the distraction (trading them, playing with them) is driving teacher's crazy. I thought it was just the younger set, but when I saw a bear-shaped band on my 17 year-old daughter's arm the other day...
