There are many iPad and iPhone apps vying for your attention, but SixSeeds is here to bring you the best ones available for families.

And for this Halloween week?  There's nothing more necessary than this one:

Monster Meter: #1 Most Trusted Monster Detection App

What It Does:

Every night, it's the same routine.  You put your kids in their pajamas, turn out the light, kiss them good night, remember that last drink of water, and steal away for the last remaining portion of the evening.

But for all too many parents, it's not over yet.

"Mom?  I hear something? Dad? Did you hear that noise?"

Apple has now finally created the technology which can settle, once and for all, whether there monsters under your kids' beds.

If you have an iPad or an iPhone, you can verify with 100% certainty that the sound your kids heard (no, not that one, a scarier one that stopped once you came in the room) is not, in fact, a monster.

This app was created for sleepy parents who'd like to shorten their bed time routines, and for children who'd rather close their eyes in peace. The good thing about this app is that you can make sure monsters will never be detected by using the "safe" mode that guarantees your kids rooms will be ghost-free.
However, (kids stop reading at this point) sometimes you might want to have monsters show up in the scanners and meters.  On Halloween, for example, you could have a bit of fun with it by turning the safe mode off.  As the parent, you can control how many monsters are found, how long it takes to "scan" the room, and whether the noises are on or off.

Features:

The men on Ghostbusters never had it this good. This app has several different technologies:

  • Radar – A classic radar screen that uses your camera on your device (no camera it still works!) The radar will scan the room for any monsters that are near. If you hear bleeps, beware there are monsters near by!
  • Grid – This scanner also uses the camera on your device and will scan up and down to detect monsters. When you hear and see bleeps on the screen, you have a monster problem.
  • Green Meter – This playful yet serious meter will scan the room and detect monsters. When the needle goes way up, you may have a monster.
  • Metal Meter – This one is a more serious looking meter that will scan the room and let you know if it detects any monsters.
All the scans have sounds and are realistic. (If your phone has a camera, it is super cool to see the room "actually" being scanned.)  You also can determine how long it takes to scan the room, the noises, etc.

Price: Monster Meter 1.0 is only $0.99, available through the Apple App Store or iTunes

For which Apple products? This can be used on either the iPhone or the iPad -- if your device doesn't have a camera, it still works.
