Family App Review: WeetWoo!

So, you’ve got your iPad and you’re not sure if it’s a must-have or just another thing that demands a cord.

We've found you can’t really dig in and experience your iPhone or iPad fully unless you have good apps.  That's why we're beginning a new series during which we'll tell you about the best family applications for the iPad and iPhone.  There are many apps vying for your attention, but SixSeeds is here to bring you the best ones available for families.

This week SixSeeds.tv reviews "WeetWoo!"

Do you WeetWoo?  You should.

WeetWoo! Kid Videos

What it does: An amazingly simple idea, this app takes all the best kid-appropriate television shows which are currently available on YouTube and puts them in one, easy-to-navigate place.

That means, when you are driving in the car, you can hand your kid the iPad and he or she can pull up any of their favorite television shows, including new shows like Phineas and Ferb, Charlie & Lola, and classics like Tom & Jerry and Dick Tracy.  Remember Caillou, the bald 6 year old Canadian who always seemed to by whining? Inexplicably, he was always a favorite of my daughter, though he’s nowhere to be found these days.  With this app, you can find him – and any other show that’s on YouTube -- with just one click of the finger.

The benefit of this product is that you can hand your child can peruse the best kids’ video on the iPad without having to peruse all of the other YouTubes available.

For which Apple products? Though compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, it wasn’t designed for the hi-resolution, bigger iPad screen.  However, I bought this app on my iPad and the videos are still satisfactory.   (Have you noticed the little circular icon on the bottom right hand side of the screen?  Touch it to make the images twice as large.)

Features: You can choose the age group that best describes your kids, so the shows that are pulled up are exactly in the right zone.  Plus, the videos are constantly updated, morally upright, without profanity, and no inappropriate comment threads.  Perfect for good, family, fun.

Price: $3.99
