Cows in the road and other Ethiopian adventures

Editor's Note: The Phifer-Houseman family consists of three adopted kids who recently went to visit their Ethiopian birthplace after many years of being in America.  They blogged about their experience.

From Yodit:

Today all of us woke up at 8:30 to got to Hope School to volunteer and be with the kids.  Benyam came and picked us up.  Again some parts of the road are nice and some parts of it are dusty and torn up.  The craziest part of Ethiopia is that people don’t seem to care about how things are.  There will be sheep walking in the road where there are cars.  Two cars were parked and I saw a big cow sitting in between the cars.  It was crazy because in America everything is organized and here things are kind of a mess.

Anyway, when we got to Hope School all the kids were happy to see us, especially the
4th graders.  They kept telling Beti and me to come to their class.  Their music teacher was absent, so Beti and I were their teachers for that hour.   We made them sing and practice songs for their Christmas celebration (they sing loud!)  After their break time it was drama class, so we watched their drama.  It was funny and they were good.
