Joshua Levy's NYC Marathon Benefits the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
SixSeeds is please to partner with our friend Joshua Levy on his next effort, on behalf of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is participating in one of the biggest, most exciting spectacles within the sports world.
He writes:
For reasons even I do not comprehend, I am running the NYC Marathon this November 7th.
Part of what has been motivating me during these long training runs has been the idea that every mile I run will help all the people and families battling cancer. Unfortunately, this is an easy cause to raise money for, as the word cancer conjures up an image in everyone's mind of someone we love who has battled this disease, hopefully with success, but not always.
When I ran the Boston Marathon in 2003 for Dana Farber my shirt was covered with the names of people in whose memory I was running. So many people who donated to that race provided me with a name of a loved one to write on my shirt, starting with Florence Baron Rock, the grandmother of my four wonderful kids who never got a chance to see their beautiful faces.
The mission of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is to provide expert, compassionate care to children and adults with cancer while advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of cancer and related diseases.
