Harry Potter and the Order of the Stylists
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” comes out Friday and I, for one, am giddy with anticipation. Which character’s style and personality will you assume while you wait in line overnight for tickets?
Harry Potter
Pros: Well, he is the star of the movie, the Chosen One, and the most powerful wizard. Ever.
Cons: The glasses…so round. The hair…so normal. Plus, who needs all the stress of saving the world?
Hermoine
Granger
Pros: She’s spunky, not afraid of anything, and knows her way around a library. Plus, she’s kinda cute.
Cons: When she’s out of her wizard robes, which is most of this movie, she dresses like any other teen at the mall. Where's the fun in that?
Ron Weasley
Pros: He’s loyal, faithful, and true. And he agrees that Hermoine is pretty cute.
Cons: He’s loyal, faithful, and true, except when he’s not. Plus, red hair is kind of hard to pull off.
Voldemort
Pros: He’s got that whole flat face, spooky nostril thing going on. That’s a look you don’t see much.
Cons: You can’t really picture him tossing back pizza with the guys. It’s an all or nothing gig, being the Dark Lord.
Luna
Lovegood
Pros: She’s got a style all her own, with bright, dreamy, mismatched colors and accessories like the funky hand shaped glasses.
Cons: That vacant stare is kinda hard to hold for hours. Plus, it's tiring to keep such a sharp lookout for gnomes all the time.
Bellatrix Lestrange
Pros: By far the coolest hair, all teased and puffy and awesome.
Cons: Isn’t the goth look overdone by now?
Severus Snape
Pros: Cape. Need I say more?
Cons: Playing both sides can get you in trouble.
Dolores Umbridge
Pros: She’s the most Mad Men styled teacher in the history of Hogwarts. Mad Men is totally in now.
Cons: Those deliciously kitchy kittens on her wall are just too horrible for words.
For Parents To Consider:
Are your kids headed to the theater to see this film? We respect that we have readers from many walks of life with perspective to add to this discussion. It's no secret that Harry Potter has been controversial from the start (more so in come circles than others.) If you have chosen to avoid the books and/or movies, have you made the same choices for The Chronicles Of Narnia and The Lord Of The Rings? How have you come to your decisions? We would love to hear from you!
