My favorite Winter Olympic moment is the 1980 Miracle on Ice. Second might be 1994 in Lillehammer. For those of you not familiar with Dan's story you can read the following account here or watch any Visa Commercial over the next 10 days.

Simply, Dan was the best speed skater in the world when he promised his sister he would win Gold in the 1988 Calgary Games. His sister died of leukemia the day he was supposed to compete in the 500 M. He fell during that race and stumbled again 4 years later during the Albertville Games. He came back one last time in 1994, 8 years after he promised his sister and well past his prime. This is what happened:

Great clip. The Dan Jansen story is one of the all-time great Olympic stories. I'm going to look for the two priors on YouTube so much children can appreciate how nervous we all were...having watched him fall twice previously.
