For many parents, it’s an all too familiar scene … Star Wars cards, Pokemon cards, Baseball cards, and American Girl cards all scattered amidst their child’s belongings. The subject matter is not so important, but there seems to be universal kid allure in these slick pieces of cardboard.

If this describes your tyke or his room, you might want to head over to the AMMO Books website and preview some cards that you are going to want your kids to enjoy. This week, we are reviewing the newest in AMMO’s line of artist-centric educational products -- Modern Art Memory Games, which features the work of well-known modern artists such as Monet, Picasso, and more.

The set features 72 cards with 36 different artists’ work. To play, the cards are mixed up and spread face down while the players take turns flipping cards over until they create a match.

The game captures what AMMO seems to do best – creating visual beauty. While a young child will not be able to identify each print, the unique nature of the pieces will most likely engage him. The packaging is enticingly sleek. But the best part is the introduction your child will get to art history while developing their memory skills. You can’t beat that, plus you receive the added benefit of a game that will grow with your kiddos! Preschoolers will enjoy the age appropriate matching game, but as they grow older – you can broaden their horizon by quizzing them on art history. (There is an enclosed guide listing the artist and title for each work.)

There are no watered down water lilies by Monet here, though.  These modern cards include Andy Warhol, Picasso, Matisse, among others that might have you running to your laptop to find out more.

This little gem would make for a great gift, and it’s better than the boxed game you’d pick up at Toys R Us!

We are giving this game away this week! Please leave a comment for a chance to win. We always love to hear from you.

On one week from publication at noon (EST), we'll pick a name in a random drawing from all eligible entries received and send you an email notification.  When you receive your package in the mail, you'll find out which book you received!

Limit one (1) entry per person; NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. Open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and Washington D.C. who are 18 or older as of date of entry.

My kids LOVE playing the matching game, and it is amazing to see how good they are at it! Actually, I love playing it too , so we usually end up playing all together. This would be a great as it would be interesting for me and a great way to introduce art to the kids. Thanks

A game that uses works from Monet and Picasso plus others has to be a useful and hopefully fun game. I like the idea.
