Congratulations to Chris Nichols for winning this week's book giveaway! While this contest is now closed, please come back to SixSeeds for more giveaways for good, family, fun!
At SixSeeds, we believe in the power of a good story. The books our children are hearing and reading will move, inspire, and sometimes even shape their lives... even young lives. This week, we take a popular kids' book and examine it. Hopefully, the next time you're browsing though a crowded bookstore, our reviews will help you sort through the thousands of titles… and you can choose wisely!

A delightful ladybug, Dot, ventures on a whimsical journey where she discovers an abandoned bundle on the road near a Chinese Village. Dot accompanies this curious bundle on a wagon ride to “the place where babies come to be found.”
It was all making sense now! Each bed in the room
Held a lost little bundle of love,
And the sound they were making is the song babies sing
When they’re needing their mothers to come.
In a perfect mixture of playfulness and poignancy, their journey together continues through baths and plane rides. Dot’s companionship, in a simple way, conveys that this orphaned baby is never fully alone in this world.
Along the way, Dot encouragingly explains the adoption process to her bundled little friend, and is particularly concerned with the cry that “can only be filled by a mother.”
And after today, I will never again
Hear that sad song coming from you.
You’re getting adopted, you’re getting a mother
And you’re getting a family too!
Dot was so caught up in telling her story
That she didn’t realize what had happened
When she looked up, she saw they were all in a room
With ten tearful eyes looking at them
Bottom Line:
This heartwarming homecoming tale is genuinely sweet without being syrupy. In typical Chapman style, they have produced another hit. This book is a family affair in every aspect. Not only does it, in a whimsical way capture the Chapman’s adoption of little “almond eyed” babies, it also highlight’s the artistic talent of Steven Curtis’ brother Jim.
For Parents to Consider and Talk to Children About:
