Through our involvement in international missions over the last few years we have developed a love for Nicaragua and the children and people of that community. God has laid this on our hearts and has called us to do our part to give one or more of them a home and a family to love and be loved.
Please tell us about yourself — your location, job, etc!
We are a Christian couple, married for 13 wonderful years and own a home in a suburb of Nashville, TN. We own a small plumbing business and I also work from home as a Certified Medical Coder for a local pathology group. We are active members of our church. My husband teaches adult Sunday School, I teach preschool Sunday School and we are involved in several other areas of the church as well.
When/why did you decide to adopt?
Through our involvement in international missions over the last few years we have developed a love for Nicaragua and the children and people of that community. God has laid this on our hearts and has called us to do our part to give one or more of them a home and a family to love and be loved.
Do you have any biological children?
Yes, we have three biological sons ages 11, 4, and 2.
Whom did you adopt?
God has not revealed this answer to us as of yet...
What has been the most surprising aspect of adoption?
The generosity and support that we receive from people that don't even know us. It is so encouraging to know that people "get" why we are doing this.
What has been the most disappointing?
I'd have to say the hardest thing at this point has been the financial burden and the constant struggle of remembering that this is going to happen in God's timing not ours.
What has been the most gratifying?
To see that there is a wide outpouring of love and support among our community to support families that are going through adoption. It's a great feeling when everyone comes together for the cause.
What challenges did you have to overcome?
Our biggest challenge has truly been a lack of finances. My husband lost his job not long after we made the decision to adopt and that put things on hold for a short while. Then with the start of our new business finances continued to be tight. We are still facing this challenge and probably will throughout the process but I know that dollar by dollar we get there and we will be able to bring our child home.
What do you wish others knew about adoption?
I wish they could truly understand how much they are giving a child that has absolutely nothing. That by adopting you are giving them more than a home, you are giving them a chance at life! That it is not impossible. That there are resources and support groups. That everyone can do a little something. That God will answer your call to obedience!
Did any organization or agency really help you get through the process, financially, emotionally, or otherwise?
We are in the beginning of our process but our adoption agency has been very helpful in many aspects and has provided all the resources needed thus far
What advice would you give people who are considering adoption?
To have lots of patience and to learn from the process. Going through this adoption has been one of the biggest life changes I've had. God has laid a passion on my heart for these children and it is growing through this adoption! I have ideas and dreams on how to help other families adopt and I can't wait till the time comes for me to work those ideas out. You never know what your journey beholds!

Hi...I'm Ashley Jones mom and I understand the roller coaster ride that you are on. I watched as Ashley and Brent went through this process and it was long and difficult. Through our involvement in international missions over the last few years we have developed a love for Nicaragua and the children and people of that community. God has laid this on our hearts and has called us to do our part to give one or more of them a home and a family to love and be loved.
