Bio

Where do you live?

In your mind.  That, and in Atlanta.

How do you teach your kids to be other-centered?

By teaching them to focus on my needs.  I figure if they can put up with me, they can put up with anyone.  Plus it's a good deal for me in the meantime.

If you had a million dollars to donate to charity, to whom would it go?

Against child sex-trafficking. The fight against human trafficking is one of the great moral struggles of our age, and trafficking children for sex is pure evil.

Which Lord of the Rings character do you most identify with?

On my carefree days, Tom Bombadil.  On my burdened days, Aragorn.  I aspire one day to be Gandalf.  Don't we all?

What tv show/series or books are you slightly embarrassed to admit you watch or read:

Glee.  I was not a geek in high school.  I know this because I was never mocked, never bullied, and I never went to high school.  I did independent study - which conveniently made me the most interesting and handsome person in every class I took.

But I am a Gleek.  I'm not proud of it, but it's true.  I. Cannot. Help. Myself.  I need an intervention.

What did you study in school and how does it help you parent?

I studied philosophy and religious studies.  I wax philosophical and wane religious on a regular basis, and all that waxing and waning tires me out and makes me less irritating to my daughter.

What is your perfect day?

Any day when my wife and daughter are both in a good mood.  Which is the same answer I would give to the question, "What is the rarest of all days known to humankind?"

What character qualities do you hope to instill in your kids?

Compassion.  Thoughtfulness.  Faith.  Joy.  And better taste in television than my own.

When you aren't writing for SixSeeds, what are you doing?

I am the Associate Director of Content for Patheos.com, a non-partisan multi-faith website that has been online for a year and a half now.  I write a column, keep a blog, recruit other bloggers and writers, and generally try to structure an engaging website on matters of faith and religion.
